Impressive win for Ana May 26th 2005

Ana clinched a place in the third round with a superb 6-3, 6-1 victory over Iveta Benesova of Czech republic.

In the first set Ana had 12 winners (including service), 16 unforced errors and two double faults. Ana made two breaks, and lost one service game.
In the second set, the number off winners and unforced errors was the same - ten. Ana had only one double fault, and three breaks off serve.

Ana passes first test in Paris May 24th 2005

Ana made short work of world number 103 Stephanie Foretz as she eased into round two of the French Open in Paris on Tuesday. The French was out of her depth against 29th seed Ana.

Ana will play Iveta Benesova of Chech republic for a place in the last 32.

Roland Garros Draw announced May 20th 2005

Ana is 29th seed at this year Roland Garros. Her first round opponent is the local favourite Stephanie Foretz, ranked 108 in world. A year ago Stephanie reached second round by knocking out the 13th seed Natalie Dechy.

Ana is in the bottom half off the draw with 2nd seed Maria Sharapova, 6th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova and 10th Seed Justine Henin-Hardenne. Among others, in the same half Ana might meet for the first time Jelena Jankovic, 15th seed and Francesca Schiavone, 22nd seed.

Tina Krizan will be Ana's partner in doubles.

Ana reached another career high ranking May 16th 2005

One week before Roland Garros, Ana made a new career high ranking - she is ranked 32nd with only 16 tournaments played.
Ana played her first WTA tournament last year in May, at Vienna, Austria. Then she was ranked 209.
This year so far, in less then 6 months, Ana won 25 matches, lost 8, and moved up 65 places on WTA rankings. And all off this is achieved with playing in only 9 tournaments.
Ana's next stop is Roland Garros, where she will be one off the seeded players, for the first time in her career in a Grand Slam tournament. This is her first appearance at this event.

Ana seeded at Roland Garros May 16th 2005

The seeds for next week's French Open in Paris, France have been announced. Ana will be the 29th seed out of a total of 32. Ana will be seeded for the first time in her career after a flood of high-profile wins this year.

Ana falls to Schnyder in Italy May 12th 2005

Ana lost her third round match to eighth-seeded Patty Schnyder of Switzerland 6-3, 6-2. Ana never got her game going while the Swiss number one played exceptionally well.

Ana Progresses at Rome Masters May 11th 2005

Ana reached the last 16 of the Rome Masters despite playing well below her best in her second round win over Anna Chakvetadze (RUS).
Ana will next face Patty Schnyder (SUI). The Swiss number one was one of the brightest young prospects on the tour six years ago, but has at times struggled to regain the consistency that saw her achieve a career-high ranking of No.8 in 1999. Currently ranked No.13, Schnyder is playing some of the best tennis of her career.

Ana battles into second round May 10th 2005

Ana beat France's Tatiana Golovin 6-3 6-4 to battle into round two of the Rome Masters on Tuesday. Ana next plays Russian Anna Chakvetadze who beat Lubomira Kurhajcova (SVK) in the first round.

Ana faces Golovin at the Rome Masters May 9th 2005

Ana's first opponent is the number 12 seed Tatiana Golovin from France, currently ranked 19 on the WTA list. They've already played each other last year in Zurich. Ana won that match with the result 2:1, 7-5, 6-7(2), 7-6(3).

If Ana does well in Rome, she will be seeded for Roland Gaross.

Berlin tournament over for Ana May 5th 2005

Ana lost her second round doubles match with Anastasia Myskina (RUS) to number 4 seeds Husarova/ Martinez (SVK/ESP) 6-4 6-0. This was the first time that Ana paired up with Myskina. Ana is expected to play in next week's Italian Open in Rome.
