Ana recently gave an interview to The Times of India, one of the largest-selling English newspapers in the world.
The following is an extract from the question-and-answer session with journalist Ashish Sen:
How do you rate your performance in Australian Open this year?
I think overall it was a positive event for me, reaching the second week and playing some good tennis. I served very well in the opening rounds and that’s really encouraging for me, considering that I have had some problems with my serve in the past.
What kind of improvements would you like to make in 2012?
My biggest goal is to reach the top 10 and compete during the later rounds of Grand Slams. I believe I have the ability and with hard work I can achieve this goal.
Which match do you consider your best?
It’s hard to choose one. In terms of the most important match of my career, it would have to be the French Open final in 2008, when I won it and be came No 1. In terms of performance, my match against Hingis in the Montreal final in 2006 was very pleasing. Another match that really stands out for me is the semi-final against Daniela Hantuchova at the Australian Open in 2008. I was down 6-0, 2-0 and came back to win. It’s probably my most enjoyable victory.
