I'm so happy! / June 08, 2008
As you probably saw from the photo, we had a great time celebrating my win on Saturday night. We went to one of my favourite restaurants in Paris and stayed there until around 1.30am, then we stopped at the Arc de Triomphe on the way home. There were many of us there, at least 25, and seeing everyone so happy was a special time for me.By the way, Scott, Sven, Marcin and my brother didn't actually run around the Arc de Triomphe - the police stopped them before they had a chance to do that!!
I am still just so, so happy! This is something I have dreamed about since I was a kid, and I really don't have the words to describe my feelings at the moment. It's just pure happiness.
I'd like to thank all you guys for the great support you have given me over the last few years. Getting to No.1 was one of the two biggest goals in my life, and to reach it at the same tournament as winning a Grand Slam - it's just perfect.
It's been a great journey. There was some difficult times along the way, but I always felt so much support from so many people, and now we can all just enjoy it.
Paris will always be a special place for me. It's where I reached my first Grand Slam quarter-final, my first Grand Slam final, and now it's my first win. Everyone here has been so welcoming to me.
I won't touch a racket for a few days - shopping is my priority at the moment!
Love
Ana
